Tell Me More
Volstead Lounge lives in the middle of East 6th and shares a wall and patio space with their sister establishment Hotel Vegas. It’s classy in the front, casual in the back. Crystal chandeliers from the ceiling, stuffed trophies on the wall, space for live music in the corner, and [most importantly] a killer happy hour.
Though the drinks are cheap, there’s no skimping on quality. Each of the $5 classic cocktails are hand-crafted by friendly happy bartenders. Classics include the obvious – French 75, Moscow mule [minus the copper mug], the Old Fashioned. And, if you’re nice, they’ll happily provide suggestions based on your tastes. Outside you’ll find the frozen drinks – which are fun but seem to lack the magic that the classic drinks carry.
On any given day, you might find a live band performing, a cool-chick DJ spinning records, or even a vintage sidewalk sale. Stick around after happy hour ends, and witness the place slowly fill with easy-going people who wouldn’t mind sharing a table with you. After a few of those happy hour drinks, why not stay and make a night of it.
Cheers! drink well, drink cheap
