Tell Me More
What to do when you’re on SoLa stuck in traffic, staring at concrete, and feeling the stress set in? Pull in to Opa and head straight for the pitcher of sangria, of course. Their verdant patio and bubbling fountains effectively disguise the fact that you’re right on one of South Austin’s busiest thoroughfares.
The happy hour drink deals are pretty solid (any mimosa < $3 is a good mimosa) and their selection of Greek apps are a perfect after work snack. And for a tip that’s not booze or food related (weird for us, I know): try the iced black tea. It was refreshing and perfectly spiced, good enough to make me want to mix up the IV drip of iced coffee I’ve been rocking this summer.
Opa is the kind of place where you want to take your time, either chatting with friends on the patio or catching up on work at one of the comfy indoor spots, and with all day happy hour on Sundays you can do just that.
- More bars should have porch swings. There’s nothing like a light breeze to compliment a light buzz.
- Next door to Opa is the biggest bead shop I’ve ever perused. Y’all should check it out when you visit.
