Dark and sexy speakeasy vibe with an eclectic clientele of locals and international travelers
This retro-style bar echoes the age of prohibition with tufted leather banquettes and walls draped in red velvet damask accentuated by moody candle light. In classic speakeasy fashion, enter the Firehouse Lounge through a false bookcase in the adjacent hostel’s reception area and unveil a dimly lit oasis for jazz and classic cocktails. Food options are limited to salty snacks, nuts & olives, and a few sandwiches. Although grilled cheese on brioche sounds divine, the stars of the show are the stiff and simple cocktails like the Fitzgerald or Vodka Sour. A small stage plays host to an array of musical offerings from jazz and blues to open mic night. However, better yet, this gem of a bar also happens to be the best place in town to cross paths with an international hottie since many of the guests next door frequent the happy hour during their stay.
Conclusion: Grab a Gold Rush & sexy accented tourist, head to a dark corner and party like it’s the 20’s – flapper dress optional!
