Eleven Plates is a casual restaurant/bar up on 360, just above West Lake and Mount Bonnel. It’s totally hidden from the road and is set in a big strip mall, though, being in the nice part of Austin, the strip mall is not the typical eye sore you’d expect it to be. In addition to its bright and welcoming interior, the restaurant boasts a beautiful porch with comfy couches and ceiling fans. I went for a work happy hour and was the first person there at around 3:30 on a Thursday, though other patrons trailed in and, by the time we left around 6:30, the restaurant had a good crowd going. Most people seemed to be enjoying after work cocktails and were in business casual attire. The staff are friendly and one was even nice enough to let me know that my dress had come partially unzipped (to my dismay). The drinks are delicious. I enjoyed a prosecco, a prickly pear margarita, and a white sangria. All were perfect. The wine list at Eleven Plates is extensive, and my coworkers who ordered wine seemed to be happy with the variety of choices. The food, oh. my. god. So good. The fried brussels sprouts are the best I have EVER had, ever, ever. We actually ordered more after eating the first two plates we got because they were so good. Other bites we had were also good, but nothing topped those sprouts. I can recommend the ahi tuna nachos, the cheese plate (it comes with honeycomb, which always tickles my fancy), and the wagyu beef sliders. All told, I am really looking forward to going back to Eleven Plates.
PS. Eleven Plates is actually supposed to be lower case, but it felt weird to write it that way.
